Hi, my name is

Carlos Barahona.

transform how teams work.

I'm a software engineer and solutions architect in Panama City with seven years turning tangled products into architecture people can reason about. Right now I lead engineering at a project within Intech Ideas International.

About me

I'm passionate about software engineering and experienced at crafting and sustaining dynamic web applications. Most of my work sits where interface decisions and architecture decisions meet. The place where a product either stays legible or quietly rots.

I studied Software Development at Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá and picked up the rest on production systems: AWS infrastructure, containerization, CI/CD, and six Anthropic certifications across MCP, the Claude API, Claude Code and Agent Skills.

I'm eager to contribute to a vibrant team where we can all learn from each other while shipping quality products.

Technologies I work with day to day:

  • React & Vue
  • Node & Express
  • TypeScript & Python
  • MongoDB & PostgreSQL
  • Docker & CI/CD
  • AWS & Supabase

Where I've worked

Lead Software Engineer & Solutions Architect @ Intech Ideas International

2024 — Present

  • Owned the end-to-end design and modernization of a mission-critical service-oriented platform, aiming to reduce technical debt and optimizing deployment reliability.
  • Designed and built scalable multi-agent systems and reusable skill encapsulation frameworks; engineered advanced context management patterns to automate core processes.
  • Partnered with executive stakeholders to align engineering roadmaps with corporate goals, effectively translating complex technical decisions into clear business outcomes.
  • Pioneered team-wide engineering standards for agentic patterns and spearheaded a UI/UX transformation that significantly enhanced user engagement through unified design systems.

Things I've worked on

Advisor[X] advisor platform

FEATURED PROJECT

Advisor[X]

Led the end-to-end redesign and modernization of this advisor platform, from the service architecture down to the design system the whole product now runs on. Rebuilt the reporting layer so a firm’s entire book filters down to a single advisor.

Payload CMS admin panel editing design tokens

FEATURED PROJECT

Payload Admin Panel

Building a CMS where the design system is itself editable content: a Themes collection holding every colour, font, radius and shadow token per mode, which the front end reads at runtime. Paste a tweakcn export to fill the whole form, and whatever the importer can’t model drops into a validated custom-token array so nothing is lost.

Cal Loop, an internal client tool with no public screenshot

FEATURED PROJECT

Cal Loop

Led optimization work across the backend APIs and the Vue front end of this project-and-task hub, and architected its AWS deployment on EC2, S3 and CodeCommit. Built the internal SharePoint integration library it shares with the rest of the client projects.

OTHER PROJECTS

The Forge Fitness App

PRIVATE
Built solo, front to back: React and Vite on the client, Supabase for auth, Postgres and media storage. Modelled singles, supersets, trisets and dropsets in one flat table, where a nullable drop_index does the work four separate tables would otherwise need. ReactViteSupabase

Social Express

A social network on the MERN stack: accounts, posts and a feed that stopped re-querying the world after one Mongo aggregation. MongoDBExpressReact

ZTOK Theme

A VS Code theme in earthy ochres and calm greens: 48 colours chosen as a contrast budget, not a mood board. VS CodeJSON

Journal

One entry per project: the decision that mattered, the thing that broke, what I'd do differently. Written after shipping, not during.
